HISTORY
Opus XVI Chamber Choir was founded in 1979 by Colin Nicholls, and we gave our first concert on St Cecilia's Day in November that year. The choir takes its name from the fact that there were originally sixteen members, one of whom still sings in the choir.James Dixon, our Music Director, has been with us since 2019. This was not an auspicious start, since we were plunged into Covid lockdown within 6 months. However, we persevered by means of Zoom rehearsals, where were practised sight-reading on the Oxford book of European Sacred Music. Once lockdowns were over, we resumed reharsals and concerts, keeping a strict three metres between eveyone, audience and choir alike.
